He is from Japan, Hiroshima and he was one of the survivors of the nuclear bombings, he sometimes fought with his brother and also after the bombing only himself, Tomoko and Kimie survived the attacks.
He searched around for food to help his mother and Tomoka and find some rice near the bridge. Once night fell, he and his mother decided to name the baby, Tomoko until suddenly, he realized his hair had fallen off.
On August 15, Gen and Kimie dug up the family's bones and took refurge to a shack.
